Peter Dawson FISTD - Creative Director/Director
Graduating with a first class honours degree in Graphic Design from Kingston University in 1992, Peter has over 18 years experience within the design arena working for a large range of commercial and public service clients. Having worked as a Designer and then Creative Director at a number of established design companies before starting Grade. Peter has worked for clients as diverse as 3i, Asprey, Barbican Art Gallery, Bloomsbury Publishing, British Library, Dell Computers, Garrard, Motorola, The NHS Confederation, Royal Mail, SONY, Thames & Hudson and Walt Disney.
Among the awards and industry recognition for his work are the Gold Federal Tait Award, D&AD, Donside, McNaughtons Review, ISTD Certificate of Excellence and recently 'Best Jacket/Cover Design' at the 2010 British Book Design and Production Awards.
Peter is a Fellow of, and a former Chair and Board Member, of the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD). An organisation with over 600 members of designers and typographers worldwide.
In addition to his role of co-managing Grade, designing and directing Grade’s creative output, he has also held part-time lecturing posts teaching typography and design at Kingston University, Central St. Martins, London College of Communications and Notre Dame University in Beirut, the Lebanon.
Paul Palmer-Edwards MISTD - Director
Paul Palmer-Edwards was fortunate enough to start his career working with some of the design luminaries of the 1980s, on projects as varied as album art and aircraft livery. Throughout the 90s, Paul's work focused on corporate identity and literature, whilst working at companies such as Wolff Olins and Lloyd Northover. In 1995 he started his own company 'Coda', specialising in corporate branding. Coda took on the three year project of implementing the re-designed Best Western Hotels brand across the UK (still finding time to pick up a couple of design industry awards along the way), and continued successfully until 2000 when Paul and Peter combined their talents to form Grade.
