Peter Dawson FISTD - Owner/Creative Director

Having worked as a designer and then creative director at a number of design consultancies after studying graphic design at Kingston University, Peter went
on to found Grade Design in 2000. Since then, he has worked for a diverse and extensive range of clients over the years from the British Museum to the V&A and specialises in print and publishing design, branding and typography. 

Having designed many best-selling and award-winning illustrated book titles,
his awards include British D&AD Annual inclusion, ‘Best Jacket’ and ‘Best Book Series’ in the British Book Design and Production Awards, several ISTD (International Society of Typographic Designers) 'Certificates of Excellence' and a prestigious 'Premiere Award' in the ISTD's most recent typographic awards.

Peter is a Fellow, and a former Chair and board member of the ISTD and has been a visiting typography and design lecturer at a number of universities in the UK and overseas.

Peter is co-author of the book Graphic Design Rules (Frances Lincoln) and author of The Field Guide to Typography (Thames & Hudson) and has written articles on design and typography for a number of industry journals.
