National Portrait Gallery
100 Series

Grade was asked to develop a concept and series design for a range of compact, low-cost ‘souvenir’ titles for the National Portrait Gallery on the theme of 100 works, each title focusing on a distinct subject from the gallery’s collection. We developed a number of typographic options and the final route presents the 100 as a focal point, paired with a distinct colour to create a suite of guides that not only stands out but also appeals to different audiences. The series range encompasses ‘Fashion Icons’, ‘Portraits’, ‘Photographs’, ‘Writers’ and ‘Pioneering Women’.
