Repast
Grade were asked by the British Museum’s publishing partner, Thames & Hudson, to develop concepts for potential new titles based on the Museum’s vast collection of objects and prints. Our proposal, Repast—a global illustrated history of food linked to objects in the Museum’s collection—was selected, and the esteemed food writer Jenny Linford was commissioned to research and write the book. The publication is arranged into thirteen broad themes, including Hunting, Alcohol, Religion, Feasting, and Eating Out, and features essays on subjects such as tea, pork, and wheat. We were delighted to develop the title from initial concept through to completion, including devising the distinctive title and creating the striking cover design, which incorporates objects from the Museum’s collection.
